141 UNIBEN Graduates Inducted into Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology

A total of 141 graduates from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) were formally inducted into the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) on Wednesday. The ceremony took place at the university’s Ugbowo main campus in Benin City, marking the 11th oath-taking event for new professionals in the field.

Yemi Gbadegesin, the NISLT Registrar, presided over the induction ceremony, commending the graduates for their dedication to the profession. He highlighted that Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) is designed to produce skilled and competent laboratory scientists with both practical and theoretical knowledge, essential for scientific research and technological development.

Gbadegesin emphasized the role of SLT professionals in designing, testing, and maintaining systems that benefit humanity, and urged the new inductees to adhere strictly to the profession’s ethical standards, including honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability.

In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Lilian Salami, represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof. Catherine Ukponmwan, expressed the university’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with NISLT. She also highlighted the recent advancements in the SLT department, including the launch of a postgraduate program aimed at addressing the shortage of skilled professionals in scientific research.
