200 Osun Students Receive Education Support Grants to Aid University Admissions

Two hundred students residing in Osun State have been awarded education support grants to ease their admission process into higher institutions. The initiative was part of the Ileri-Oluwa Education Support Scheme, facilitated by Engr. Olalekan Badmus, the Executive Director of Marine Operations under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The beneficiaries were initially provided with free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms through the scheme. Out of the 200 students, 30 who scored over 200 in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) received a grant of N100,000 each to support their admission process. The remaining students, who scored 160 and above, were also given consolation grants to assist with their admission requirements.

During the grant distribution event, held at Ileri-Oluwa Building in Osogbo, Badmus presented the cash awards to the parents of the beneficiaries. He emphasized that the scheme was designed to support underprivileged but hardworking students in achieving their educational aspirations.

“This initiative is a way of giving back to the community that has given so much to me. By focusing on education, we aim to empower the younger generation and help them realize their dreams,” Badmus explained.

He added that the scheme is meant to encourage not only the youth but also those with the potential and determination to succeed but lack the resources to move forward. “This is a time for those with the means to give back to society,” he said.
