The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor has made a passionate appeal to the Nigerian electorate to avoid being influenced by money during next month’s general elections in the country.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor who gave the warning in his new year message, said it is time for the electorate to declare their stand on how to better the country.
He decried the poor governance in the country which has led to untold economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and added that there is need for change to liberate the masses from literal bondage.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor asked those who are yet to collect their permanent voter cards to go and collect it as its the only instrument to use to better the country.
The prelate expressed the hope that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC will provide a level playing ground for all political parties.
He called on the people to vote their conscience and for candidates they know that will address the situation of the country.
The Bishop warned against Nigerians against vote trading while calling on those who will be elected at the polls to ensure they study the needs and challenges facing the nation and bring lasting solution to them.
He thanked God for the past year and the grace to enter into 2023 and stated that the new year calls for hard work, continuation of God’s love and bettering the lives of people around.
