The 2024 Conference of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) and Communications Experts concluded on a high note on November 21st, 2024, in Asaba, Delta State, with a regimental dinner marking the successful completion of the event.
Themed “Strengthening the Nigeria Police Force Oversight and Accountability,” the conference, which began on November 18th, provided PPROs with vital training in communication, police accountability, human relations, and building public trust. The event saw the participation of industry experts, international organizations, and NGOs who shared their knowledge to enhance the skills of the attendees.
During the conference’s closing ceremony, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, represented by Delta State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, presented awards to several officers for their exemplary performance. Among the recipients were the PPROs of FCT, Bauchi, Anambra, Delta, Kano, and Abia States, as well as ASP Julius Robinson, a tactical team commander in the Delta State Command. The awards celebrated the officers’ dedication to their roles and their efforts in promoting effective policing and public relations.
In his remarks, the IGP described the conference as a milestone achievement in advancing the Nigeria Police Force’s strategies for more effective and accountable policing. He also thanked the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for hosting the event, as well as various supporting agencies and international partners. The IGP reiterated his call for the public to embrace the new innovations in policing to ensure better service delivery and contribute to the nation’s socio-economic development.
The conference’s successful conclusion underscored the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening its operations and improving relations with the public.
