Governor Chukwuma Soludo has restated his administration’s dedication to long-term development in Anambra State, stressing that government programs will focus on essential services rather than temporary handouts.
Speaking at a news conference held at the Light House in Awka to mark the 34th anniversary of Anambra’s creation on August 27, 1991, by former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, Soludo outlined the priorities of his government.
He highlighted agriculture, healthcare, education, and infrastructure as key sectors of focus. Achievements so far include the distribution of over 2.6 million palm and coconut seedlings to 180,000 households, the introduction of free education in public schools, and free antenatal and delivery services in state hospitals.
The governor also cited the recruitment of over 1,000 health workers and 8,115 teachers, implementation of an N82,000 minimum wage, and clearance of pension arrears owed to state and local government workers. On infrastructure, he reported that more than 600 kilometers of roads have been completed out of an 800-kilometer plan.
Soludo called on residents to continue supporting government policies as part of a collective effort to build a prosperous Anambra.
