38th Awka Diocesan Women’s Conference Begins at Nibo

The 38th Awka Diocesan Women’s Conference (ADWOC) has commenced at Holy Trinity Church, Nibo, in the Awka South Council Area. This year’s conference, which is also the second Mother’s Union Conference, is themed “I Will Not Let You Go Unless You Bless Me,” inspired by Genesis 32:26.

The event began with the arrival of the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of the Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Martha Ibezim, President of the Mother’s Union, Women’s Guild, and Girl’s Guild for the Province of the Niger and Diocese of Awka. They were warmly welcomed by conference participants and inspected a paramilitary guard of honour mounted by the Boys and Girls Brigade.

Following the inspection, the Archbishop and his wife were received by the traditional ruler of Nibo, Igwe Michael Ngene, and his wife, Amaka Ngene.

In his address, Most Reverend Ibezim emphasized the importance of ADWOC in addressing contemporary issues affecting women and enhancing their spiritual lives. He prayed for divine grace to support the participants throughout the conference and especially for Dr. Mrs. Ibezim in her leadership role.

Reverend Dr. Emmanuel Ajakor, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church, delivered a sermon focusing on the conference theme. He reminded the women that material wealth does not guarantee safety, which can only be assured through spiritual vigilance. He urged them to embrace God and rely on Jesus Christ as their foundation, promising blessings without sorrow or pain from God.

Sir Osita Ngini, Chairman of the ADWOC 2024 Organizing Committee, described the conference as a powerful tool for evangelism and encouraged delegates to actively engage, learn, and apply the teachings to help transform society.

The arrival service featured special choir renditions, a welcome song by the women of Nibo Archdeaconry, and other presentations.
