500 Youths in Anaocha Council Area Benefit from Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Program

The Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Local Government Area, Comrade Rome Ibekwe, has launched a skills acquisition training program aimed at empowering the youth of the region.

Comrade Ibekwe stated that the initiative, which kicked off at the Council Headquarters in Neni, is part of broader efforts to secure a bright future for the local youth. Beneficiaries, selected from all wards in Anaocha, will undergo six months of training, after which they will receive empowerment support.

The launch event also saw the commissioning of the Anaocha Solution Kitchen, intended for use by council staff and visitors. Notable attendees included the Chairman of the Anaocha Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Christopher Okpala of Akweze, various stakeholders, and community members.

In his address, Comrade Ibekwe highlighted that the training aligns with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution Agenda, which seeks to engage youth in positive activities. He emphasized that the program aims to direct young minds toward productive living, reduce crime, and instill virtues such as hard work, discipline, and patience.

The Anaocha Chairman urged trainees to remain committed to the program, encouraging parents and guardians to support their wards in acquiring these valuable skills.

Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programmes, praised Comrade Ibekwe’s vision for youth development. He noted that Ibekwe’s initiatives reflect a commitment to securing Anaocha’s future, stressing the importance of skill acquisition in driving economic growth through micro and small enterprises.

Mrs. Oby Mmadumere, Coordinator of the Anaocha Skill Acquisition Center, reiterated that the center aims to equip locals with skills to combat poverty and crime. Stakeholders such as Chief Ben Amobi-Mmadu and Chief Mrs. Ifeyinwa Ajulufor commended the chairman’s impactful initiatives and encouraged beneficiaries to seize this opportunity.

APGA Chairman in Anaocha, Sir Anthony Ugorji, and Woman Leader Mrs. Ijeoma Sunny-Egbuna, praised the Solution administration for improving the lives of Anambra residents and urged continued support for the government to ensure further benefits.

Representing the trainees, Comrade Chisom Nnadi, Youth President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) in Anaocha, lauded the investment in youth development, noting that the acquired skills would benefit them throughout their lives.

The program will train 150 beneficiaries in various fields, including tailoring, cosmetology and makeup, footwear making, catering, decoration, ICT, and solar energy installation.
