62,000 Pupils Sit for 2024 Common Entrance Exams in Kwara State

No fewer than 62,000 Primary Six pupils participated in the 2024 Common Entrance (Placement) Examinations for admission into public junior secondary schools across Kwara State on Saturday.

The state’s Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo-Kawu, made this known in Ilorin. She, along with a team from the ministry, monitored the exercise in several centers across Ilorin, Oke-Ero, and Ekiti Local Government Areas.

In a statement released by the ministry’s Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, the commissioner expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exams, noting that they commenced on time at all the centers visited.

Modibbo-Kawu praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his dedication to enhancing the state’s education sector, emphasizing that the transition examination from primary to junior secondary school was fully sponsored by the state government.

“As you can see, everything is hitch-free and going on well. Let me quickly give kudos to the state government and the management and staff of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development involved in the process for doing a great job at ensuring good preparation and a seamless exercise,” she said. She added that reports from other centers across the state confirmed the smooth execution of the exams.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Rebecca Olanrewaju-Bake, also expressed gratitude to the governor for the prompt release of funds that facilitated the successful conduct of the examination. She urged teachers to continue their dedication to improving educational outcomes in the state.

Mrs. Victoria Adewuyi, Director of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, described this year’s examination as one of the most successful in recent times.

Parents also commended the state government for providing a conducive environment for the exams. Mrs. Aisha Ahmed, speaking on behalf of the parents, praised the government for ensuring the examination was well-organized and for sponsoring the exercise.
