The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has taken custody of an 8-year-old boy, identified as Master Divine Chisimdi Onyejiaka, who was found wandering in Awka.
The child, a pupil of St. Raphael Nursery/Primary School, Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area, was brought to the NSCDC headquarters by a concerned citizen on December 20, 2024, at approximately 7:20 a.m. Master Onyejiaka is described as fair-complexioned, about three feet tall, and without any tribal marks.
According to preliminary investigations, the boy reportedly left his home in Okpoko after being disciplined by his mother, Mrs. Nnenna Onyejiaka. However, the circumstances of how he traveled from Okpoko to Awka remain unclear, as the child has been unable to provide coherent details.
Despite efforts by the NSCDC Anti-Human Trafficking Unit to locate his parents or relatives, no connections have been established. Master Onyejiaka remains in the protective custody of the NSCDC pending identification and reunion with his family.
The NSCDC is appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the boy’s parents or guardians. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NSCDC Anambra State Command through the Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit or the Head of Media and Tactical Operations at 08035771835.
Speaking on the matter, the Head of Media and Tactical Operations, SC Okadigbo Edwin, emphasized the importance of public support in resolving the case swiftly. “We appeal to anyone with useful information about the child’s family to come forward so we can reunite him with his loved ones,” he stated.
Master Onyejiaka is currently safe under the care of the NSCDC as the search for his family continues.
