Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has sanctioned the hiring of 7,000 teachers for public primary schools and 100 caregivers for special schools across the state. This announcement was made by Dr. Nureni Adeniran, Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), during a press conference held at the board’s headquarters in Ibadan.
Adeniran emphasized that this recruitment initiative fulfills Governor Makinde’s campaign promises and addresses the critical shortage of teachers in the state’s public primary schools. He assured the public that details regarding the recruitment process would be disclosed in due course and reiterated that no agents would be appointed for the recruitment exercise.
“The board will provide comprehensive information about the application process and requirements at the appropriate time. We will strictly adhere to the governor’s directive to ensure the recruitment is conducted purely on merit,” Adeniran stated. He also warned prospective applicants to beware of scammers, emphasizing that no individual has been authorized to collect money on behalf of the board for the recruitment.
This move is part of the state’s broader efforts to enhance the quality of education and ensure that every child in Oyo State has access to competent and qualified educators.
