Anambra Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, has called on youths to spearhead efforts to restore social values and moral reforms within their communities. Mrs. Soludo made this appeal while addressing representatives from various youth organizations at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.
The gathering included members from the Ohaneze Youth Wing, Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Mrs. Soludo emphasized the significant role youths can play in societal improvement, particularly in combating drug use, guiding wayward children and peers, and supporting community child-rearing efforts. She expressed gratitude for the youths’ enthusiasm and support for her healthy living initiative and highlighted the importance of extending the program beyond Anambra State.
“The primary goal of this crusade is to change unhealthy habits and educate people on proper dietary and self-care practices,” Mrs. Soludo said. She praised the youths for their proactive support and noted that their involvement would amplify the campaign’s impact.
Comrade Ken Okoli, the Youth Leader of ASATU, announced the formation of the “Healthy Living Advocacy Group.” This platform aims to disseminate the healthy living message throughout schools and communities using both digital and traditional channels.
Deputy President of NYCN, Comrade Innocent Nduanya, lauded Mrs. Soludo’s unique and visionary approach, stating that her initiatives set her apart from other governor’s wives in Nigeria. He stressed the importance of transforming her program into a national movement that would bring recognition to Anambra State.
Comrade Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, National Youth Leader of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, pledged ongoing support for Mrs. Soludo’s crusade and encouraged her to continue pursuing her vision of healthy living.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of an award plaque and certificate to Mrs. Soludo, naming her the Grand Patroness of Anambra Youths Worldwide.
