Nigeria’s Sports Minister, John Enoh, has addressed the recent controversy involving Napoli forward Victor Osimhen, who made a disrespectful comment about former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George on social media.
In a recent interview with Eagle7 FM Radio, Enoh disclosed that he instructed the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to refrain from making any public statements regarding the incident until they had engaged directly with Osimhen.
“There has been a plethora of opinions on this,” Enoh said. “Osimhen is a Trojan for Nigeria, but his actions were a low point. I told the NFF not to make a pronouncement on this before they have engaged Osimhen.”
The minister emphasized the importance of handling the situation delicately, given the current state of Nigerian football. “These are not the best of times for Nigerian football, and we have to manage a lot of things. The NFF must remain focused and not be distracted,” he added.
Enoh’s approach underscores the need for careful management and internal resolution within the Nigerian football community during challenging times.
