In a celebration of longevity and community service, the Aguleri World Forum recently honored several age grades for their contributions to the development of Aguleri in Anambra East Council Area. These age grades were recognized not only for their long lives but also for their dedication to community service during their prime years.
Ndi Okpoke Age Grade was inducted into the prestigious Ndi Ichie Aguleri, Mgbadabuanu Age Grade Oji Ana Uno was inducted into the Ndi Ojiana Aguleri, and Ndi Ochunagali Ekwolo was inducted into Ojiana Uno Aguleri. The ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the traditional ruler of Enugwu Aguleri, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, as well as Igwe Johnson Onyeaka-Mbanefo of Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri and Igwe Emmanuel Ejiofor of Enugwu-Otu Aguleri.
Ndi Ichie Aguleri, a key decision-making body in the community, oversees various issues, promoting peace and progress. At the event held at Obu Gad, Eze Eri highlighted Aguleri’s unique status as a leading Igbo community and stressed the importance of educating the younger generation about their cultural values to ensure their preservation.
Eze Eri attributed the inductees’ achievements to divine grace and urged the younger generation to emulate their upright lifestyles. Following the induction, Chief Paul Onuorah, Chairman of Ndi Ichie Aguleri, emphasized their commitment to using their wisdom to serve the community, maintaining the exemplary lifestyle Aguleri is known for.
Chief Tony Ezindu-Onyekwe, speaking on behalf of the Aguleri World Forum, praised the inductees as role models and the community’s mouthpiece, embodying wisdom and positive virtues. He reminded them of their responsibilities in leading the community and being exemplars for others.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of membership and mufflers to the inductees, marking the pinnacle of the event.
