The Anambra State Association of Calgary, Canada, has donated 20 hospital beds to seven local government areas and 18 health centres in Anambra State.
The benefitting local governments are Idemili North and South, Orumba North and South, Ogbaru, Oyi, and Anambra East.
During the presentation at the Model Primary Health Centre in Obosi, Idemili North Council Area, Mr. Kenechukwu Ochokwu, representing the Association, explained that the selection of these local governments and health centres was based on their accessibility and the pressing need for equipment in remote areas.
Mr. Ochokwu praised the philanthropic leadership of the Association and urged the beneficiary health centres to use the facilities effectively.
Chief Onyekachi Mmuonago, a community leader in Obosi, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its alignment with the Akuluno philosophy of the current administration. He also commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the ongoing renovations at the health centre and reaffirmed the community’s support for his government.
Mrs. Chinyere Ebisi, the Officer in Charge of the Health Centre, received the items and thanked the Association for their generosity, praying for divine replenishment.
The event’s highlight was the formal handover of the beds to the government.
