In a solemn ceremony at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Awka, eight men were ordained as Catholic priests by the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor.

The newly ordained priests—Reverend Fathers Paul Akabogu, Elias Obikwelu, Victor Ejie, Damian Chibueze, Anthony Okoyeatu, Paschal Omaha, Lawrence Akwuba, and Kingsley Igboanugo—took oaths of poverty, chastity, and obedience to God and to Bishop Ezeokafor during the ceremony.

In his homily, Most Reverend Ezeokafor emphasized that the priesthood is a unique vocation for those committed to serving God and humanity. He urged the new priests to uphold their vows and live lives marked by chastity, poverty, and adherence to God’s word and the church’s teachings.

Bishop Ezeokafor expressed gratitude to God for guiding these men to choose a path of spiritual service over worldly pursuits. He called upon the church community to support the new priests through prayer, helping them to succeed in their divine calling.
