Maverick entertainer and activist Charles Oputa, widely known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerian youths to escalate the ongoing EndBadGovernance protests. In a passionate appeal on his official X handle, Charly Boy emphasized the significance of the fight for good governance, framing it as a crucial battle for survival.
“My dear Nigerian Youths, I trust that by now you all know what we’re up against. We can never make an omelet without breaking eggs. The powers that be are demonically entrenched,” Charly Boy stated. He criticized the current leadership, describing them as thieves and dishonorable individuals indifferent to the well-being of the populace. He urged the youth to intensify their efforts: “We can defeat this monster that has befallen us, we need to get louder and go pro max.”
The protests, which started last Thursday, have been driven by widespread discontent over the high cost of living. Despite President Bola Tinubu’s appeal for calm in a nationwide broadcast, protests continued on Monday in various states, with demonstrators demanding reductions in fuel prices, food costs, and other essential goods.
However, turnout on Tuesday was notably lower, with reports suggesting that security operatives may have suppressed the demonstrations on Monday.
