In a strategic move to eliminate quackery and enhance service standards in Anambra State, Dr. Nelson Omenugha, the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Youth Empowerment Programmes, has taken significant steps to unify building artisans and craftsmen across the state. This initiative is aimed at maintaining high standards in the quality of services provided by these professionals.
To advance this objective, Dr. Omenugha convened a crucial meeting with the Association of Building Artisans and Craftsmen of Nigeria (ABACON) and selected members from other professional bodies involved in building development. The meeting, which took place at the SSG Conference Hall in Government House, Awka, also saw the participation of ABACON members from the Southeast zone.
During the discussion, Dr. Omenugha highlighted the pivotal role that building artisans and craftsmen play in sanitizing the construction sector, particularly in addressing the issue of building collapses in the state. He emphasized the importance of registering all building artisans and craftsmen, providing them with proper identification, and ensuring that they are fully certified.
Dr. Omenugha stressed that by closely monitoring the activities of these professionals, the state can significantly reduce the incidents of building collapses and weed out the “bad eggs” that tarnish the reputation of the industry.
He further noted that Governor Soludo is committed to making Anambra a livable and prosperous state, ensuring that no sector is overlooked in the broader vision for the new Anambra project.
