Stanley Nwabali has shown support for his fellow Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen, following the striker’s unsuccessful attempt to secure a transfer from Serie A club Napoli before the recent transfer deadline.
Osimhen had been eager to leave Napoli, with potential moves to Saudi club Al Ahli or Premier League side Chelsea both on the table. However, both deals fell through, leaving the forward in a difficult position as he has now been removed from Napoli’s Serie A squad. This development means Osimhen may have to wait until next year to return to active club football.
In a show of solidarity, Nwabali took to social media to encourage Osimhen, posting on X (formerly Twitter): “All great legends and all Hall of Fame fighters have their storylines. Good, bad, and worst kinds of views from people who have no idea what the real story is and what it takes. I would define a myth as a story that has survived. VO9.”
Nwabali’s message highlights the challenges faced by top athletes and reassures Osimhen that his journey, like those of many legends before him, will continue to unfold.
