The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that it will begin lifting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the Dangote Refinery starting September 15, 2024. This was confirmed by Adedapo Segun, the Executive Vice President of Downstream at NNPCL, during an appearance on TVC News’ “Journalists’ Hangout” show.
Despite ongoing fuel scarcity and recent price increases, Segun assured that NNPCL is working with marketers to ensure that fuel stations operate extended hours to meet nationwide demand. He emphasized that measures are in place to prevent product diversions and ensure timely deliveries to stations.
Segun also indicated that the fuel scarcity is expected to ease in the coming days as more stations resume operations and recalibrate.
This announcement follows a denial by Dangote Refinery on Wednesday that NNPCL had not yet started lifting petrol from their facilities. The refinery’s production was officially announced by Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, earlier this week.
