Veteran comedian Ali Baba has shared his thoughts on the topic of men feeling insecure about their partners earning more. Reacting to a viral story about a man who pressured his wife to quit her job because she earned more than him, Ali Baba questioned the logic behind such actions.
In a post on his Instagram page, the comedian highlighted that the self-worth of some men is too closely tied to their financial status, making them feel weak when faced with a successful partner. He suggested that if anyone should quit their job, it should be the man, not the woman.
Ali Baba said, “If you are earning N10 million a month and your husband earns N1.5 million, how does it make sense for you to resign? This insecurity stems from men whose confidence is financially anchored.”
He emphasized that instead of feeling threatened, men should use their partner’s success as motivation to improve their own financial standing, citing Oprah Winfrey and Stedman as an example of a balanced relationship where success isn’t a source of insecurity.
