Polaris bank Limited have partnered Anambra state government through the Ministry of Environment on the annual one million tree planting initiative called the green project.
Leading the team on a courtesy call on the Commissioner, Engineer Felix Odimegwu, the Managing Director of Polaris Bank limited, Mr kayode Lawal thanked the Governor of Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for delivering the dividends of democracy as promised Ndi Anambra through capital projects going on all over the state.
Mr Lawal who was represented by the southeast Director of the bank, Mr Chinwetalu Nwatu said that the bank was focused on a sustainable environment.
According to him, the partnership will continue in the tree planting initiative to address environmental issues and create awareness for environmental health.
Responding, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr Felix Odimegwu thanked the Management of Polaris Bank limited for making Environmental sustainability their corporate social responsibility in the state.
Said he, “Erosion has been an existential threat to our communities and we are being proactive in controlling the menace. Mr Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has been on the forefront of bringing solutions that will curb these threats in our communities”.
” The Governor declared a state of emergency in the environmental sector as part of his pillars of development.Thats why he flagged off the GREEN PROJECT which touches the whole 21 Local government Areas of the state”.
The Commissioner informed that the Governor was constructing the first ever Eco friendly Government House and Governor’s Lodge in the state and that over two million oil seedlings have been distributed in the state.
