Mr. Joseph Achebe, a radiographer at Comprehensive Health Center, Awkuzu, has underscored the importance of regular health check-ups to monitor the condition of organs, tissues, and bones. In an interview at his office, Achebe highlighted the critical role radiography plays in diagnosing and treating various diseases and injuries.
“Our job is to capture images of internal structures to assess the presence or absence of disease, foreign objects, structural damage, or anomalies,” Achebe explained.
He encouraged individuals experiencing symptoms such as chest pains, coughs, waist pains, back pains, or shoulder pains to undergo X-rays to diagnose potential issues before complications arise. He also emphasized that regular check-ups, even for those without symptoms, are essential for timely and cost-effective treatment.
Achebe noted that the Comprehensive Health Center in Awkuzu is equipped with advanced technology, including Direct Digital X-ray machines, CT scans, MRI, ultrasound, and mammogram machines. He stressed the importance of early detection in preventing serious complications and advised regular breast cancer screenings using mammograms to detect issues early.
