The Onitsha Police Area Command in Anambra State has witnessed significant reforms under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nzota Chidi, who took office as the Area Commander just two weeks ago. ACP Chidi has issued a strong warning to criminals in the Southeast’s commercial hub, urging them to vacate the area or face severe consequences.
In collaboration with Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Tina Okeke, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) at the Inland Town Police Station, Chidi’s team has already recorded notable successes. Within 10 days of assuming office, the team neutralized two kidnappers, arrested one, and injured another, signaling a firm commitment to restoring law and order.
Chidi expressed his determination to protect lives and property, emphasizing that residents of Onitsha should enjoy nightlife and freedom of movement without fear of criminals. He pledged to continue efforts to ensure a safer environment.
“I am in Onitsha to protect lives and property… People should have their freedom of movement and association and can’t be caged by criminals,” Chidi stated.
In addition to his crime-fighting agenda, ACP Chidi stressed the importance of environmental cleanliness, believing that a clean environment is key to preventing epidemics. He has undertaken efforts to beautify police facilities in Onitsha, ensuring they are well-maintained and presentable.
Chidi also urged residents to provide valuable information that could help apprehend criminals, assuring them of full protection for informants. His leadership has sent a strong message to criminals, promising a legacy of cleanliness and crime control in Onitsha.
