Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR., has called the attention of the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Works, MTN and Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) handling the abandoned Enugu – Onitsha road project to a massive gully erosion fast developing around the Anambra airport junction, Nteje.
Soludo who visited the erosion site earlier today, Monday, October 21, 2024 during his routine projects inspection in the state sounded the alarm on the urgent need for action to address the abandoned project, as the earths’ giant eater was rapidly threatening and cutting off the Southeast’s major highway.
Speaking futher, the Governor stressed that any delay in arresting the massive developing gully erosion will cut off the people from direct access to the Chinua Achebe International Airport thereby forcing residents and visitors alike to access the airport through village roads and others.
Governor Soludo has been vocal about the devastating impact of erosion in Anambra State, with over 1000 erosion sites identified, he’s particularly worried about the Enugu-Onitsha Road project, which has been plagued by challenges posed by erosion.
