Shehu Dikko has been appointed as the chairman of the newly established National Sports Commission (NSC). This announcement comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s decision to dissolve the Ministry of Sports Development on Wednesday, transitioning its responsibilities to the NSC.
Dikko, who gained prominence as the Chairman of the League Management Committee (LMC), is credited with significant advancements in Nigerian top-flight football during his tenure. His leadership brought about notable development in the league, enhancing its structure and competitiveness.
In addition to his role with the LMC, Dikko has served as a consultant to the House of Representatives Sports Committee, showcasing his expertise in sports administration.
The reconstituted NSC, which had previously been dissolved, is now charged with overseeing the country’s sports policies and administration, a responsibility that was last held by the Federal Ministry of Sports Development. This change reflects the government’s commitment to improving the management and development of sports in Nigeria.
