Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has stated that the political crisis facing the state stems from a struggle over control of its resources. The governor assured that his administration remains committed to using these resources for the welfare of the people.
Fubara made this statement on Sunday during the 51st birthday celebration of Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries Worldwide, held at the church’s headquarters in Mbodo, Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
“There is a reason for this crisis, and that reason is the control of the resources of Rivers State,” Fubara explained. “Rivers State’s resources belong to you, the people, and we will ensure they are used for the betterment of Rivers State. All we ask is that you continue to pray for us, so we don’t lose focus.”
The governor commended Apostle Chinyere’s contributions to the community, praising his philanthropic work and educational initiatives, which equip children with essential vocational and technical skills. Notably, he lauded the church’s All Girls’ Technical College, which aims to discourage prostitution by providing free education to young girls.
In support of Omega Power Ministries’ projects, Fubara announced a N200 million donation toward infrastructure development, including the establishment of a church-run TV station and guest housing facilities.
Additionally, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, who attended the event, praised Apostle Chinyere as a beacon of hope and a guiding force, urging continued prayers for peace in Rivers State.
Apostle Chinyere spoke about the critical need to support young women, citing the high cost of university fees as a driver behind prostitution. “To address this issue, we must empower the girl child,” he said.
The governor expressed confidence that with the community’s prayers and continued support, his administration would overcome the current challenges and fulfill its mandate to serve the people of Rivers State.
