The Anambra State government is set to unveil a dedicated electricity market aimed at addressing the energy needs of Ndi Anambra, according to the Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engineer Julius Chukwuemeka.
Speaking in Awka, Engineer Chukwuemeka highlighted the innovative strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, describing him as a “jinx breaker” committed to transforming all sectors of the state’s economy. The proposed electricity market, he explained, will enable Anambra to oversee its power generation, transmission, and distribution effectively, ensuring energy sustainability.
The Commissioner also revealed plans to establish the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ANSERC) to oversee energy regulation and the Anambra State Electricity Management Agency (ASEMA) to manage the state’s electricity market. These initiatives align with the Soludo administration’s vision of a clean, green, and livable homeland.
Engineer Chukwuemeka emphasized that the electricity market would integrate renewable energy sources to guarantee a sustainable power supply, marking a significant step towards energy independence for the state.
The initiative reflects Governor Soludo’s commitment to advancing Anambra’s infrastructure and creating a self-reliant energy sector for the benefit of its citizens.
