Former Wales international and Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, has predicted that Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe will win the prestigious Ballon d’Or next year, edging out competitors like Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Vinicius, who was in contention for this year’s award, lost out to Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
When asked by TNT Sports who he believes will claim the 2024 Ballon d’Or, Bale confidently replied, “Kylian Mbappe.”
Expounding on his choice, Bale said, “It’s just unfortunate that at the moment it’s not quite going Mbappé’s way. But I think on his day he’s the best player in the world, and it’s just a matter of time before he comes good.”
However, Bale made surprising picks for the top scorers in Europe’s major competitions. He chose Robert Lewandowski as the potential La Liga top scorer and Harry Kane as the leading marksman for the UEFA Champions League, despite his belief in Mbappe’s overall superiority.
With the Ballon d’Or race already heating up, Bale’s endorsement adds weight to Mbappe’s candidacy as the French star continues to vie for global recognition.
