Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has vowed to end a 21-year electricity outage at the Uli campus of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU). The Governor made this commitment during a working visit to the university, where he engaged with staff and students to understand their challenges.
Prof. Soludo expressed shock at the revelation that the university community has been without electricity for over two decades, describing the situation as unacceptable. He announced immediate steps to address the issue, including directing the Commissioner for Power to assess the cost of restoring electricity to the campus. The proposal for this project is expected to be presented for approval at the Anambra State Executive Council meeting next Monday.
“As your Governor, I am dedicated to ensuring that our public education system receives nothing but the best. We are committed to providing a conducive learning environment that fosters growth, innovation, and excellence,” Soludo stated.
This initiative is part of the Governor’s broader commitment to improving infrastructure and educational standards across the state. Soludo reaffirmed his determination to create an enabling environment for students and educators, underscoring his vision for a progressive and thriving Anambra.
“May Anambra continue to win!” the Governor concluded.
Residents and members of the university community have welcomed this development, expressing hope that the restoration of electricity will significantly enhance academic and social activities on the campus.
