Controversial Nigerian rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been granted bail by the Nigeria Police Force.
The news was confirmed by his counsel, Stanley Alieke, on Instagram, where he stated, *“Apki has been granted bail by the court.”*
Speed Darlington was arrested on November 27 while performing at a show in Owerri, Imo State. His arrest was reportedly linked to his verbal attacks on Grammy-winning artist Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy.
A member of his legal team, Deji Adeyanju, had alleged that Burna Boy orchestrated the arrest, citing accusations of an amoral relationship with embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces multiple charges related to sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Adeyanju had earlier demanded that the rapper be arraigned within 48 hours or released on bail, asserting, *“Issues around injustice may take time, but justice will always prevail.”*
Speed Darlington’s case has reignited debates on the intersection of celebrity disputes and legal actions in Nigeria.
