The lawyer representing embattled singer Speed Darlington, Stan Alieke, has expressed frustration over his client’s continued detention despite being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja on December 23, 2024.
Speed Darlington was arrested on November 27 over allegations of cyberstalking Nigerian music star Burna Boy. Although the court ordered his release on bail, he remains in police custody, sparking outrage among his supporters and legal team.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Alieke accused the police of deliberately disobeying the court order and insinuated that Burna Boy may have influenced the situation by bribing officers.
“We have done everything a lawyer should do to get his client out. I have even exhausted all my connections and reached out to political friends here in Abuja. The police have refused to obey the court order. There’s no justification for this,” Alieke stated.
He alleged that during Darlington’s initial arrest in October, Burna Boy distributed cash to officers, raising concerns about potential bias.
The case has sparked widespread reactions, with many calling for Speed Darlington’s immediate release in compliance with the court’s directive.
