Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has spearheaded the construction of a 1.7-kilometer ultra-modern road network at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Amaku, Awka, as part of his administration’s drive for quality infrastructure development.
The project, supervised by the Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) under the leadership of Mr. Ossy Onuko, is nearing completion. Speaking during a site inspection, Mr. Onuko commended Governor Soludo’s unwavering commitment to improving infrastructure across the state, despite limited resources. He described the road reconstruction and asphalting as a significant step toward enhancing accessibility and the aesthetics of the hospital.
Mr. Onuko highlighted the administration’s broader infrastructure initiatives, including the Fun City project, the Governor’s Lodge in Awka, and the establishment of a trauma center at COOUTH. These projects, he said, are part of Soludo’s vision for sustainable development and improved living standards in Anambra.
The Chief Medical Director of COOUTH, Dr. Joe Akabuike, expressed gratitude to Governor Soludo for prioritizing healthcare infrastructure. He noted that the road network and trauma center would significantly elevate the hospital’s status, making it a hub for medical tourism equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and skilled professionals.
According to Dr. Akabuike, “Governor Soludo’s vision is to reduce the dependency on overseas medical care by transforming COOUTH into a center of excellence in healthcare delivery.”
