The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has dismissed the governorship ambition of All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, urging him to abandon his bid to unseat Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Okonkwo, while inaugurating the new APC secretariat in Awka last week, had declared his intention to challenge Soludo in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, boasting that he alone has the capacity to govern Anambra.
Reacting in a statement on Saturday, the National Coordinator of the APGA Media Warriors Forum, Chinedu Obigwe, asserted that Okonkwo lacks the political strength to defeat Soludo, even if he secures the APC ticket.
“Okonkwo likes to compare himself with Soludo, even when it is clear that he is not in the same league. He will not win the APC ticket, and even if he defects to another party, Anambra voters will reject him as they did in 2021,” Obigwe stated.
The APGA chieftain also dismissed Okonkwo’s challenge for a public debate with Soludo, insisting that the APC aspirant must first secure his party’s ticket before seeking such a platform.
“As of today, Okonkwo does not deserve Soludo’s attention for a debate. The governor is focused on delivering good governance, and anyone claiming otherwise is out of touch with reality. The infrastructural strides and security initiatives, including ‘Operation Udo Ga-achi,’ speak for themselves,” he added.
Obigwe maintained that Soludo has justified the trust reposed in him by the electorate and remains the preferred choice for Anambra’s continued development.
