The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has sought a partnership with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to address gender-based issues in the state.
The Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Chinwe Achugbu, made the request during an advocacy visit to the Anambra State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mrs. Joyce Alexander, at the sector command headquarters in Awka.
Mrs. Obinabo explained that the partnership is part of the ministry’s preparations for the International Women’s Day celebration on March 8, aimed at promoting campaigns against spousal and domestic violence.
Welcoming the delegation, Mrs. Alexander acknowledged the vital role women play in society, starting from their families. She expressed the FRSC’s willingness to collaborate with the ministry in sensitizing women on road safety, noting that women tend to obey traffic rules more than men and can influence their families positively.
