Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has cautioned his teammates about the demanding nature of the team’s new head coach, Eric Chelle.
Chelle, who replaced Augustine Eguavoen earlier this year, will lead the team in their first official fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe this month.
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Osimhen revealed that he had already communicated with Chelle and described the Franco-Malian coach as someone who values hard work and dedication.
“I know him from the previous AFCON with the Malian team. He’s a coach that loves to play and fight. He told me he needs me and the senior players to work with him to achieve amazing things for Nigeria,” Osimhen said.
Osimhen further emphasized that Chelle expects full commitment from every player, warning that those who don’t put in the effort will not be selected.
“He can be a big brother or an uncle off the pitch, but on the pitch, it’s business. If the younger players see us running like crazy, they will follow suit,” Osimhen added.
Chelle has already announced his 23-man squad for the upcoming matches.
