The Delta State Government has commenced the verification and validation of registered farmers to establish a database for genuine farmers eligible for government interventions.
In a public announcement issued by the Director of Public Communication and Acting Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Information, Theresa Oliko, the exercise is set to begin on Monday, March 17, and will run until Friday, March 28, 2025.
The initiative targets crop and vegetable farmers, fish farmers, and livestock farmers who have registered with the State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Agricultural Field and Extension Officers will visit farms to capture data, including the GPS coordinates of farm locations.
Local Government Chairmen, Traditional Rulers, Presidents-General, and Women and Youth Leaders have been urged to mobilize registered farmers in their communities to participate in the exercise. Farmers are required to provide their National Identification Number.
The effort aims to create an accurate and reliable database for effective government support and intervention in the agricultural sector.
