The 2025 All Anglican Seminaries and Convents Sports Fiesta, aimed at enhancing mental alertness, academic excellence, and unity among students, was held at Queen’s Convent, Awka.
The event brought together 22 schools, comprising 10 convents and 12 seminaries, from the Provinces of the Niger and Enugu. Declaring the event open, the Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, emphasized that Anglican convents and seminaries are the pride of mission education, where future leaders of the church and society are nurtured. Represented by the Niger Provincial Education Secretary and Registrar of Alexander Ibezim College of Education, Nibo/Nise, Venerable Dr. Ifeanyi Umeh, Archbishop Ibezim expressed confidence that the fiesta would promote unity, teamwork, and healthy competition.
The Chairman of the Conference of Principals of Convents and Seminaries of the Provinces of the Niger and Enugu, Venerable Dr. Ifeanyi Mgbemene, highlighted the schools’ commitment to sound academics, spiritual training, and good morals while recognizing the importance of physical activities and sports.
Principal of Queen’s Convent, Awka, Mrs. Martha Ibezim, who also serves as the President of the Women’s Ministry, Province of the Niger and Diocese of Awka, welcomed the guests and assured them of top-notch hospitality and a fun-filled event.
The three-day event concluded with winners in various competitive categories receiving trophies and gift packages.
