Justice Godwin Ononiba marked his 88th birthday in Awka, drawing prominent figures from the judiciary, government, and business sectors to celebrate his legacy and launch his book, “Wisdom on the Bench: Enduring Legacy of Justice Godwin Ononiba.”
Justice Ononiba, a former Chief Judge of Anambra State and the Traditional Prime Minister of Nimo, was praised for his contributions to the judiciary and his commitment to justice.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who attended the event, commended Ononiba for documenting his experiences, describing him as an inspiration for younger legal professionals. He also lauded the Anambra judiciary as one of the most hardworking in the country and urged legal practitioners to uphold honesty and transparency.
Justice Anthony Igu, chairman of the occasion, highlighted Ononiba’s humility and dedication, while Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu, credited the celebrant with shaping many respected legal professionals.
Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Professor Ilochi Okafor, and Dr. Gab Menakaya also shared insights on Ononiba’s impact and the significance of his book in the legal profession.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Ononiba’s daughter, Justice Irene Ndigwe, described her father as a humble and honest man, expressing gratitude to all who came to honor him.
The event featured a book unveiling, cake cutting, and other celebrations in recognition of Justice Ononiba’s remarkable contributions.
