Security agencies in Anambra State have launched a new coordinated operation aimed at eliminating kidnapping and violent crimes across the state. The initiative, code-named “Operation Udo Ga-Achi – Zero Kidnapping,” was flagged off at the Amawbia Flyover in Awka.
The operation is a joint effort involving the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command, the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Agunechemba Security Outfit, and other agencies.
Commissioner of Police, Dr. Ikioye Orutugu, who addressed journalists on behalf of the security agencies, said the initiative was introduced to decisively tackle insecurity and completely wipe out all forms of violent crime in the state.
He stressed that the fight against insecurity requires the involvement of everyone and urged residents to support security agencies by speaking up whenever they notice suspicious activity.
Mr. Kingsley Ezika, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Anti-Cultism, emphasized the need for unity among groups, organizations, and youths in combating insecurity.
Backing the initiative, Mrs. Nkiru Nwagbo of the Ultimate Business Women and Farmers Association of Nigeria and Mr. Chiko Onwuzuluike of the Anambra State Restaurants Owners and Bars Association (ARBOA) praised the launch of the operation and pledged their support in efforts to improve safety across the state.
