The Anambra State Government has launched the 2026 Armed Forces Emblem as part of activities to support ex-servicemen, widows of fallen heroes, and their dependants across the state.

The emblem appeal fund was unveiled at the Government House in Awka during an event marking preparations for the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration. Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobe, said the initiative reflects the state’s appreciation of the sacrifices made by ex-servicemen in safeguarding the unity and security of the nation. He added that the welfare challenges confronting military veterans would continue to receive attention.

In a welcome address, the Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Anambra State Council, Dr. Ben Agbogu, congratulated Governor Soludo on his victory in the recently concluded governorship election, describing the outcome as an expression of the people’s confidence in his leadership. He also praised the governor’s efforts in tackling criminal activities in the state, citing the establishment of Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga-Achi as positive steps.

Dr. Agbogu highlighted several challenges facing the Nigerian Legion in the state, including the non-release of annual subvention, lack of office accommodation, and absence of operational vehicles. He appealed to government officials, public-spirited individuals, and philanthropists to contribute generously towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, widows of fallen heroes, and their dependants.
