Abba Village of Nsugbe has emerged overall winner of the 2025 Orula Unity Football Tournament, going home with the star prize of two million naira at the end of the competition that began on December 19, 2025.

Akpalagu Village, Nsugbe, secured second position and received one million five hundred thousand naira, while Agbalagbo Village finished third and was awarded seven hundred thousand naira.

The trophy and dummy cheque were presented to the winners at the Central School Field, Nsugbe, by the Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Dr. Tony Nwoye, alongside the tournament sponsor, Dr. Stan Emoh, and the newly elected President General of Nsugbe, Mr. Nnamdi Okeke. They described football as a powerful tool for unity and development, noting that this inspired the construction of a standard football stadium at Ugwuasa, Nsugbe, to provide opportunities for young talents. They expressed confidence that the tournament would produce future football stars who would bring pride to the community.

Speaking at the event, the sponsor of the tournament, Dr. Emoh, who recently built and donated a bungalow to Mr. Ikechukwu Osakwe and empowered more than forty Nsugbe indigenes with one million naira each, said the tournament started with limited resources but has grown to a five million naira prize pool in the current edition. He recalled playing football in the past without any incentives and urged other Nsugbe indigenes to support youth development through sponsorship, to enable young players represent the community, Anambra State and the country in national and international competitions.

In separate remarks, the newly elected President General of Nsugbe Community, Mr. Okeke, and the Coach of Orula Unity Football Tournament, Mr. Nnamdi Igbeke, reflected on the challenges encountered in sustaining the competition over the years. They commended Dr. Emoh for his consistent support and progressive increase in prize money, describing it as a major source of motivation for the players, and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon him.
