The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken decisive action by suspending centre referee Tijjani Majidadi from officiating further matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The suspension, effective immediately, was confirmed by Mohammed Ameenu, the Chairman of the Referee Committee, in a memo addressed to the official.
Referee Majidadi’s suspension stems from his performance during the rescheduled matchday 28 encounter between Rivers United and Katsina United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The decision to suspend Majidadi follows widespread criticism and viral videos depicting a contentious disallowed goal scored by Katsina United during the match.
Despite the controversial incident, Rivers United emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Katsina United.
