Abandoned Classrooms in Delta State Turned Into Public Toilets

A video recorded by a DAILY POST correspondent in Warri, Delta State, reveals the dire state of Ogbe-Ijoh Secondary School in Warri South-West Local Government Area. The footage shows that several classrooms at the school have been turned into public toilets, abandoned by students and teachers due to severe neglect.

The video depicts a block of five classrooms with leaking roofs, no chairs or desks, and absent blackboards. The floors are covered in human faeces, and the space is overrun with weeds and reptiles. The once functional learning environment has deteriorated to such an extent that it is now unusable.

Students and teachers are now confined to a few remaining usable classrooms within the compound. According to students, hoodlums frequently visit the school during odd hours, vandalizing and stealing from the premises, further compounding the problem.

The affected students and teachers have called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to address the situation urgently. They are requesting the governor’s intervention to renovate the dilapidated school facilities and to enhance security measures to prevent further vandalism and theft.

The community awaits a response from the state government to restore the school to a conducive learning environment and to ensure the safety and well-being of its students and staff.
