Abia State Governor Commends Rivers State Counterpart for Infrastructure Development

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has extended commendations to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for the successful completion of the 10.98km Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.

During the road’s inauguration ceremony, Otti praised Fubara for prioritizing infrastructure development in the Eleme community, where the governor once resided. The road project, also known as Old Bori Road, was awarded to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation in August 2023, at a cost of N6.7 billion.

Addressing attendees, Otti emphasized the essence of leadership in serving the people’s interests rather than personal agendas. He reiterated that true leadership is about selfless service and cautioned against prioritizing individual or minority interests over the collective welfare of the populace.

Otti remarked, “Power belongs to God, no human can arrogate to himself the capacity to give power, except you have the capacity to give life. Of course, you can take life, but you cannot give it.”

Highlighting the importance of good governance, Otti expressed confidence in Fubara’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and interests of Rivers State residents. He assured the populace of continued dividends of democracy under Fubara’s administration.

In response, Fubara acknowledged the challenges faced by his administration, particularly concerning debt and pending payments to contractors. He pledged transparency in detailing project funding, promising to provide a ‘white paper’ outlining the financial records of the completed project.

The inauguration of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road marks the commencement of Fubara’s ‘One Year in Office’ anniversary celebration. Despite facing numerous challenges, including distractions, Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to delivering development to the people of Rivers State.

Fubara expressed gratitude for Otti’s presence at the ceremony, lauding him as a man of action integrity rather than artificial integrity. The event underscores the collaborative efforts between state governments to drive infrastructure development and foster socio-economic progress in Nigeria.
