Abuja Court Grants Bail to Controversial Singer Speed Darlington

Abuja – An Abuja court has granted bail to controversial Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, following his arraignment by the Nigeria Police Force.

Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, disclosed the development via his X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “Police finally arraigns Speed Darlington in court. Bail application moved and granted. We are trying to perfect same.”

The specifics of the bail conditions have not been made public.

The singer’s arraignment comes after mounting pressure on the police to act, especially after Darlington filed a petition to Deputy Inspector General of Police Dasuki Galadanchi, challenging his prolonged detention. He cited a court order issued by Justice M.S. Liman on December 23, 2024, which directed the police to either charge him to court within 48 hours or release him unconditionally.

Darlington was arrested following allegations he made against Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, accusing him of an improper relationship with embattled U.S. singer Sean Combs, also known as P. Diddy.

The case has drawn widespread attention, with fans and critics closely watching developments surrounding the controversial musician.
