Activist VeryDarkMan Refuses EFCC Invitation Over Bobrisky Bribery Allegations

Activist and social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as *VeryDarkMan*, has declined an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations involving officials of the agency.

The controversy began when *VeryDarkMan* shared an audio recording, purportedly of popular social media figure Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed he paid N15 million to have a money laundering charge dropped.

In response, the EFCC invited both *VeryDarkMan* and Bobrisky to its Lagos office to assist in investigating the bribery allegations. However, *VeryDarkMan*, in a statement on Wednesday, said he would not be attending the EFCC’s Lagos office as he does not reside there and fears for his safety. He requested the agency to move the investigation to its Abuja headquarters instead.

He also questioned the EFCC’s handling of Bobrisky’s case, stating, “Before you (EFCC) invite someone like me, do a deep investigation on your officers first. When you get the result from your officers who handled Bobrisky’s file, then you can invite me.”

He further added that he does not have the resources or connections to protect himself, saying, “I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I don’t have any godfathers, and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust you, and I won’t go (to Lagos).”

Bobrisky, for his part, has denied the allegations, calling the audio recording fake and asserting that no such payment was made.
