Ademola Lookman missed training on Saturday as the Super Eagles of Nigeria began preparations for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matchday six encounter against Rwanda. According to the Super Eagles’ media officer, Promise Efoghe, Lookman picked up a knock during the team’s 1-1 draw against the Benin Republic on Thursday, prompting his absence from training. The Atalanta forward was replaced by Frank Onyeka late in the match.
The Super Eagles will assess Lookman’s fitness during their final training session on Sunday to determine his availability for the upcoming clash with the Amavubi of Rwanda.
In addition, Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has already been released from the squad due to a knock sustained during the game against Benin Republic. Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was also allowed to leave the camp following the death of his father.
The Super Eagles are set to host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday.
