Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has been named the 2024 African Footballer of the Year, solidifying his place among the continent’s and world’s elite players.
Lookman triumphed over strong contenders, including South Africa’s Ronwen Williams, Cote d’Ivoire’s Simon Adingra, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Guinea’s Serhou Guirassy, to claim the prestigious title.
His victory marks a significant achievement for Nigerian football, ensuring the award remains in the country after his teammate, Victor Osimhen, claimed the honor last year.
Lookman’s outstanding performances throughout the year played a crucial role in earning him the top spot and further highlighting Nigeria’s dominance on the African football stage.
