Airtel Nigeria has entered into a strategic partnership with Mobihealth International to launch telemedicine services across the country, aimed at improving healthcare access, particularly in underserved areas. The agreement, finalized at Airtel’s Lagos office, will enable Nigerians to access affordable, round-the-clock teleconsultations with licensed healthcare professionals via their mobile phones.
Mobihealth’s platform will also provide prescription services, medication delivery, and the option to consult with international medical specialists. Leveraging Airtel’s extensive network infrastructure, the partnership will extend telemedicine services to remote and rural areas, helping to address challenges such as limited access to doctors, high healthcare costs, and a shortage of medical facilities.
Femi Oshinlaja, Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, emphasized the importance of telemedicine in the country’s healthcare future, stating, “Our partnership with Mobihealth showcases our dedication to providing innovative solutions that significantly improve the lives of Nigerians.”
Dr. Funmi Adewara, CEO of Mobihealth, described the collaboration as a major milestone in their mission to democratize healthcare across Africa. “Together, we will offer a lifeline to millions who face barriers to accessing timely, affordable, and quality medical care,” she said.
The partnership is seen as a significant step towards enhancing healthcare access in Nigeria and could serve as a model for expanding digital healthcare services across Africa.
