The House of Representatives member representing the people of Oyi and Ayamelum Federal Constituency, Hon. Iyom Maureen Chinwe Gwacham has appealed to the Minister of Works and Former Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Sen. Engr. David Umahi to tell the President of Nigeria, Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu that Anambra state has only one political party which is the home of progressives, and called the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
She made the call Tuesday, while giving vote of thanks during the flag off ceremony of 17.5km-by-two expressway connecting the Enugu – Onitsha Expressway with the second Niger bridge and held at Ogbunike, Oyi LGA, Anambra State.
Honourable Gwacham who also hails from Ogbunike community reminded the Minister that APGA was the home of progressives and that ndi Anambra had no other candidate and party other than Professor Chukwuma Soludo and APGA.
She stressed that the people had long adopted APGA as their sole political party in the state and Governor Soludo as their sole candidate for the upcoming Anambra gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on November 8, 2025.
She also pledged that ndi Anambra would reciprocate the friendship that the president was showing ndi Anambra in 2027 during his second term bid.
Further speaking, Lady Gwacham assured the federal and state governments and the CGC company handling the project of the coorporation of her constituents in ensuring smooth delivery of the project.
Speaking earlier, the Works Minister, Engr. Nweze Umahi praised the infrastructural strides of Governor Chukwuma Soludo and urged the people to give him their maximum support so that he can do more.
He used the opportunity albeit saying it was not yet campaign period to canvass support for mr president in 2027 saying that the President loved Ndigbo.
According to him, he was the first Igbo man to be appointed Works Minister in Nigeria and that the president was undertaking the construction of virtually all federal roads in the South East including Enugu – Onitsha, Onitsha – Owerri, Aba – Port Harcourt, dualization of Emene – Abakaliki road amongst others.
The Governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo who represented the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu thanked the Federal government for the numerous projects they were undertaking in the state and Southeast region.
Professor Soludo commended the Works Minister, Engr. David Umahi for being a workaholic and representing the Southeast well in the Federal Executive Council.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government to construct the Nzam – Kogi road which according to him when completed will crash the travel time from Anambra to Abuja to below three hours.
Ndi Igwe Anambra led by their Chairman, HRM. Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Eze Obosi, Presidents General of communities, State Executive members led by the SSG, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Local Government Mayors led by Dr Emma Nweke, Mayor Oyi, House of Assembly members led by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chuma Okoye, Youths, Women and others attended the occassion.
